What is Mindful Dressing?

Getting dressed is something you do every day—but it can easily become another place where pressure, comparison, and self-criticism show up.

Mindful Dressing offers a creative way to slow down, tune into yourself, and explore your relationship with your body, confidence, and personal style.

Rather than focusing on dressing “the right way” or creating the perfect outfit, we’ll use clothing as a way to practice self-connection, self-expression, and curiosity. You’ll have space to notice what you like, what feels good, what you’re drawn to, and what you may be holding yourself back from wearing.

This work can be a lighter, more creative complement to traditional talk therapy—or simply a different way to explore yourself when talking doesn’t feel like enough. The goal isn’t to take getting dressed more seriously, but to take yourself more seriously while making getting dressed feel a little more enjoyable, intentional, and freeing.

How It Helps

Mindful Dressing turns something you already do every day into an opportunity to slow down, connect with yourself, and build confidence. It can help you become more aware of what you like, what feels good, and what you may be holding yourself back from without getting caught up in rules or expectations.

Over time, this practice can support self-esteem, self-expression, body acceptance, and a more flexible mindset around how you “should” look or dress. It can also be a way to practice making choices based on your own preferences and values rather than comparison or outside expectations.

Most importantly, it gives you a chance to make getting dressed feel less like something to get right and more like a small, intentional moment of connection with yourself.

What to Expect

Mindful Dressing is still therapy, with goals centered around self-esteem, confidence, self-expression, body image, or your relationship with yourself.

The difference is that we use getting dressed as a tangible, everyday way to practice those things. This might look like bringing certain outfits to a session, experimenting with something new, or choosing a “motto of the week” that I use with mindful dressing to practice outside of therapy.

We’ll notice what comes up, challenge the thoughts and rules that may be holding you back, and practice making choices that feel more aligned with you. It’s a mix of conversation, creativity, and real-life practice—using something you already do every day as a way to connect with yourself and build confidence.
